PERSEPHONE - A START

PERSEPHONE - A START oil on canvas 22"x28" This is the very first stage of a new painting that I made yesterday. It will be Persephone emerging from her captivity in the underworld. She is bring Spring back to the frozen Earth as will be represented by a sprouting seed that I will put in her hand. I want to make her a lot younger looking and also, need to make the background look more like frozen farm fields and less like the arctic ocean. I might put Demeter, searching for her lost daughter, in the background. Updates to follow.

DECAYING LEAF #1 6"x6" oil on canvas This next group of paintings are ultra-close up examinations of the autumn leaves that have fallen on my driveway in the last few weeks. I am fascinated not only by the brilliant autumn colors of the leaves, but also by the little spots of decay that eventually cover the whole leaf.

TIME AFTER TIME

TIME AFTER TIME oil on canvas 18"x15" This painting has been occupying me for quite some time. I think it is about generations - the transformation of the past into the future. It will go to Soho20 gallery in NYC next month.
